"Hi, my name is Eilyn Jimenez and I’m from Sire Design
Early on in the creation of the project, I had in mind what I wanted the space to feel like. I knew I wanted a space that was moody, but something that was going to add a layer of depth. The first thing that we selected and drew inspiration from was the stone. The stone has these layers of plums, and lilacs, and greens, and mauves and all these tones that really allowed us to stay true to the inception of the design of creating a moody space.
You have the bathroom which is a moment for relaxation. You have the dressing room which is a moment for expressing art. You have a bar which allows you to either welcome a friend or enjoy a tea, or a drink on your own, and you have a space that’s also a desk for either getting ready or writing a letter to somebody that you love and appreciate.
Being able to create a space in Kips Bay is very different than working on a project for a client because we have creative freedom. We get to do things that normally are outside of the box, but it really allows us to let our creative freedom
I feel more than ever now, we are shying away from neutral interiors and we’re shying away from what looks perfect and really being true to the essence of who we are as individuals and creating as art. Really feeling connected to these materials, getting inspiration from them and creating something so magical like ‘The Becoming Suite’ is.”
